She’s HERE!
Friends, meet the sweetest new addition to our family, Hudson Luella Aronson. 💛
Hudson arrived fast and wide-eyed early in the morning on October 15th, and from the moment she arrived, she has astonished us in every way. I know she’s only a few days old, but I swear I can already see her spirit bursting through, and she has an old soul and the most beautiful fire and ferocity for life.
I haven’t shared many details about my pregnancy publicly, and that’s because it was actually a pretty stressful season filled with a lot of unknowns. At our 20-week anatomy scan, we learned that Hudson was very small (in the 5th percentile) and I was diagnosed with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). For the rest of my pregnancy, she/we had to be monitored constantly – weekly ultrasounds, non stress tests (NSTs), etc.
As each week passed, we watched Hudson slooowly (but surely!) get bigger, and I felt a bit more at ease – and deep down I knew she may be small, but she was mighty. Sure enough, by the time I hit 38 weeks, at our last ultrasound we learned that Hudson (while still on the small side) had grown considerably in the final few weeks, and she was healthy and thriving.
And on this past Sunday morning at exactly 6:11am, Hudson surprised all of us by barreling her way earthside blazingly fast, like a woman on a mission. And by Monday afternoon, we were already back home from the hospital, with this new and most precious little life in our care.
As second time parents, maybe we just know a bit more about surviving with a newborn, or maybe this girl is just the chillest, easiest baby ever… but either way, we are (KNOCK ON WOOD!!) feeling surprisingly rested, calm, and quiet over here. And we are grateful to be incredibly well supported by an army of grandmas and friends and neighbors, who have all helped ease this big transition as we became a family of four.
Needless to say, I haven’t done much farming or cooking this week, and I’m taking the week “off” from sharing a new recipe (I’ll be back next week)! BUT I didn’t want to leave you hanging… so see below for links to some fabulous fall recipes that I’ve rounded up from around the internet, which would all be perfect for eating like farmers this weekend + the week ahead. Happy cooking!
Chicken, Collard Greens & Sweet Potato Stew from Martha Stewart
Spiced Chickpeas with Wilted Kale & Roasted Carrots from Food52
One more thing…
I just want to say THANK YOU for all the love and support in this exciting and whirlwind season… I’ll be back next week with a brand spankin’ new recipe to help you eat like a farmer!
ALSO – next week I’ll share another post all about how to plant garlic (it’s time!), available to paid subscribers.
To get in on this deliciousness EVERY week, consider joining as a paid subscriber. You’ll also get access to my full recipe archive, gardening resource library, monthly giveaways, and you’ll be able to join our comment and chat sections.
Especially as my family grows, your support in this space means the WORLD and allows me to continue this work, which I am so grateful for. 💛
Congratulations Michelle and family!
Congratulations on the arrival of your beautiful daughter!! May God bless her all the days of her life!
